Petalon is powered by a collection of brilliant women – and James, of course! A few months ago we wrote a post introducing you to the team, with people working their time at Petalon around busy lives being mothers, studying or running their own businesses. We thought we’d take a moment to give them a shout out, because us small businesses have to stick together!
Hannah, one of our florists, is the Founder and Creative at Bask Studio. Bask offers commercial and residential interior styling packages to create grounding and uplifting spaces. Her designs balance modern and contemporary style with natural elements, creating unique and welcoming spaces that complement each client’s individual wants and needs. Hannah’s signature interior styling is inspired by the world beyond our walls and draws influence from her travels to diverse paradise escapes.
As well as her floristry days at Petalon, Jen also owns and runs a business called Twigs and Greens. Jen is a specialist wedding florist covering Cornwall and beyond and has been working in the floral industry for over a decade. Her style and ethos is natural, rustic and beautiful, while being elegantly subtle. Combining locally grown blooms with gorgeous florals from Holland, Jen’s eye for colour and creative flair for distinctive design ensures a truly beautiful aesthetic. Together with a background in events management and photography, she creates a calming yet magical atmosphere to the events she works on.
Sophie works at Petalon as both a florist and a studio assistant and is one of the longest-standing members of the team down in Cornwall. She also has her own brand, Sophie Talling Sportswear, focusing on eco-conscious sportswear, made with organic and recycled fabrics. Her Caldera Collection is inspired by Santorini and handcrafted in Cornwall.
Billie is a member of our brilliant customer service team and works part-time for Petalon, answering your questions and queries remotely from West Wales. She is also a florist herself and has her own business, Hwyl Flowers. Her focus is on a loose, natural style with an emphasis on seasonal flowers. Billie is currently learning to grow in a small cutting garden, whilst also on part-time maternity leave.
Juliette, another one of our florists here at Petalon, splits her time between Cornwall and Oxfordshire. After many years working as a teacher and a florist she has decided to focus on her floral passion and creativity. She enjoys all things flora and fauna and likes to call herself a ‘gardening geek’, visiting all sorts of gardens in her spare time. Juliette has recently launched her own floristry website, Juliette Florence Flowers, offering seasonal workshops, flowers for events and weddings across West London, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Liv works for Petalon as a florist and works all over the South West as a wedding and events florist, creating naturally beautiful, seasonally inspired florals. She loves working with interesting elements, such as a quirky shaped stem allowing them to move as nature intended, or an intricate textural detail to elevate and bring a design to life. Sustainability is at the heart of her business, sourcing locally grown British flowers wherever possible, and creating foam free designs by using reusable materials. Charlotte has worked for Petalon as both a studio assistant and a florist and also has not one, but two of her own businesses. Flame Studios is a candle shop she started on Etsy during lockdown earlier this year. She makes colourful pillar candles and wax melts using sustainably sourced soy wax and fragrance oils. Over the last few months Charlotte has expanded from exclusively selling online to now stocking candles in local craft shops in Cornwall. She’s also a fashion designer specialising in luxury womenswear www.charlottesarahatkins.com. Her most recent collection was inspired by Absolutely Fabulous and all things 80s and 90s. She loans out garments from this collection and has so far been featured in music videos, magazines and editorial shoots, as well as taking bespoke / custom orders.
Becki has been with Petalon since 2016 and was made a Director earlier this year. To counterbalance the Trello boards and spreadsheets that she loves organising things in to at Petalon, she paints and sells her own floral and sea-inspired artwork and greetings cards in her spare time. Find her on Instagram @beckiwillmore.
Clare is an enormous help to us, providing her time and wisdom one day a week to help us with our planting schedule and anything else you might want to know about setting up and running a flower farm. Her business, Hendra Farm Flowers, is a mother-daughter team growing beautiful seasonal flowers on their Cornish family farm.
So there you have it, a team of highly talented, creative individuals who we’re very lucky to have sharing their skills with us at Petalon. A big thank you to everyone who’s part of the team here, whether you’re featured above or not – we couldn’t do it without you.Back to blog
